Call Rates

In light of recent events in Ukraine, TPG is offering free standard international mobile calls from Australia to Ukraine (+380).

Free calls to Ukraine offer available until withdrawn. A small number of customers may still see charges after placing mobile calls to these countries. In this instance, please contact customer service for a full credit.

SIM Options

Once you’ve chosen a TPG mobile plan, you’ll be asked to select between a physical SIM or an eSIM during our secure signup process.

  • Physical SIM option works with all devices, as you can push out the size of the SIM that you need (Standard, Micro, or Nano). TPG offers free SIM delivery, including free express delivery in metro areas.

  • eSIM is the digital version of a SIM that is built into the device (if you have an eSIM compatible device). Because you don’t need to wait for a physical SIM to be delivered, you can be ready to use your TPG mobile plan in minutes with online activation. Learn more about eSIM swap.

You can change to a different SIM type at any time by calling us on 13 14 23 – for example, if you change to different phone or your SIM is lost or stolen. A $10 SIM replacement fee will be charged for physical SIM replacements.

Network Coverage Checker

We use the 4G Vodafone network, as well as 5G Vodafone network on select plans.

5G-eligible TPG mobile plans:

  • $35 Medium plan (purchased on or after 2 August 2024)
  • $45 Large plan (purchased on or after 2 August 2024)
  • $39.99 Extra Large plan (purchased between 9 September 2021 and 1 August 2024)

In non-5G coverage areas, or if you don’t have an eligible TPG Mobile plan or compatible 5G phone, you’ll continue to automatically connect to the 4G/3G Network, where it’s available.

Vodafone has expanded its 5G coverage for customers with specific devices. In non-5G coverage areas, or if you don’t have an eligible TPG mobile plan or compatible 5G phone, you’ll automatically connect to the 4G network, where it’s available.

This Australian network coverage map should be used as a guide only - whilst we try to ensure accuracy; factors such as building construction, local conditions, device and software, download source and traffic volumes may impact your experience. While we continue to support you on our reliable 4G network, Vodafone’s 5G network is progressively being rolled out to selected areas of major Australian cities.

A TPG SIM and/or eSIM can only be used with approved devices. Using a device on our network other than an approved TPG device may impact your ability to make calls including emergency 000 service calls or access our full 5G coverage.

Important Things you need to know

About your SIM Only Mobile Plan

General for all plans:

All TPG mobile plans are paid each month in advance and auto-renew every month until you cancel. The recurring monthly plan fee is charged in advance, 7 days before the start of the next billing cycle.

Speed caps:

For TPG mobile plans purchased after 2 August 2024, plans are speed capped at:

  • Small Plan: 150Mbps on our 4G network
  • Medium Plan: 150Mbps on our 4G and 5G networks
  • Large Plan: 250Mbps on our 4G and 5G networks

These speeds are the maximum potential speeds that you may get access to. The actual network speed you experience may be slower and will vary depending on various factors including your device, location, available bandwidth and source of download.

Additional prepaid balance:

Purchasing a prepaid balance is optional – your default prepaid balance is $0, and you can use the included value of your plan without a prepaid balance. A prepaid balance allows you to use additional features that aren’t included in your plan, such as:

  • Calls, SMS and MMS to international numbers
  • Excess data ($10 for 2GB)
  • International roaming (making calls, using data and sending SMS/MMS while overseas).
Excess data:

Excess data is not included in your plan and requires a prepaid balance of at least $10 otherwise your mobile data will become inactive until next month’s billing cycle.

If you use up the amount of data included in your mobile plan, then:

  • if you have a prepaid balance of at least $10, 2GB and a charge of $10 will be automatically added to your plan;
  • if you don’t have a prepaid balance of at least $10, your mobile data will become inactive until your next billing month activates, or your balance is topped up to the minimum $10 charge.

2GB of data for $10 will be automatically added as many times as needed during your billing cycle, provided that you have a sufficient prepaid balance.

International calls and SMS:

The following standard international calls and SMS are included in all TPG mobile plans purchased after 2 August 2024:

  • Small plan (which includes 100 minutes of international calls and SMS to 31 countries each month).
  • Medium and Large plans (which include unlimited minutes of international calls and SMS to 31 countries each month).

Note: Countries may vary. Calls to satellite phones are excluded. Calls to excluded countries or calls that exceed the monthly minutes allocated to your selected plan will be charged at ‘Pay As You Go’ rates from your prepaid balance (if available).

International roaming:

To ensure you do not incur unexpected and high data usage fees whilst roaming, we recommend disabling mobile data and roaming settings on your device before going overseas.

If you would like to use your plan overseas, you will need to make sure international roaming is turned on in My Account.

Your mobile usage while roaming will be charged the rate for the zone you are in. Explore our international roaming rates for a full list of zones and charges. For more information about international roaming, check out our support page.

Included and excluded usage

Included usage:
  • Unlimited calls, SMS and MMS to standard Australian numbers
  • Included data as specified for the plan you have purchased
  • Included international calls and SMS as specified for the plan you have purchased
  • Unlimited voicemail deposit and retrieval
Standard rates apply for usage outside of the included calls and for excess data. Unused included calls and included data are forfeited at the end of each monthly billing period. Any unlimited usage provided is only for use in Australia.
Included data:

TPG plans have a specific amount of included data each month. Data usage is not unlimited and will be taken out of your included data.

  • If you exceed your plan's included mobile data amount, additional excess data usage charges may apply.
  • Any unused data does not roll over into subsequent months and will be forfeited at the end of each monthly billing period.
  • Data usage records in My Account may be delayed by up to 30 minutes.
  • Data usage includes combined upload and download data transfer.
  • Some mobile phones have the capability to run multiple data sessions at the same time. This will be recorded in your mobile usage as overlapping data usage within the same time periods.

All data for use in Australia within 4G and 5G coverage areas. A 5G-enabled phone is required in a 5G coverage area to access the 5G network. If you are not within a 5G coverage area, your service will automatically switch over to 4G and speeds will be less than that of 5G. Actual speeds and functionalities may vary due to things like device capability, location, and network congestion.

Excluded usage:
  • Calls to international numbers after the first 100 minutes and 100 SMS (Small plan only)
  • MMS to international numbers
  • Calls to satellite phones
  • Third-party content
  • International roaming, directory assistance and other enhanced services

Optional prepaid balance

Prepaid balance is required to bill any usage that isn’t included in your plan. This could include things like:

  • Calls, SMS and MMS to international numbers
  • Excess data ($10 for 2GB)
  • International roaming (making calls, using data and sending SMS/MMS while overseas).

Purchasing prepaid balance is optional – your default prepaid balance is $0, and you can use the included value of your plan without a prepaid balance.

If you don’t have enough prepaid balance to cover a particular usage that isn’t included in your plan, then that usage won’t be available until you’ve topped up your prepaid balance.

You can check or top up your prepaid balance by logging into My Account. If you choose to top up your prepaid balance (minimum $10), the amount will be debited from your nominated bank account or credit card. If your service is cancelled any unused prepaid balance will not be refunded to you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Billing

How am I billed for my mobile service?

TPG’s SIM Only plans are billed on a prepaid month-to-month basis. When you sign up, we will debit your bank account or credit card for:

  • the first month's monthly charge
  • any prepaid balance you have requested during sign up.

For the following months, you will be charged 7 days before the end of the monthly period for your next month’s service.

How does the optional prepaid balance work?

Prepaid balance is required to bill any usage that isn’t included in your plan. This could include things like:

  • Calls, SMS and MMS to international numbers
  • Excess data ($10 for 2GB)
  • International roaming (making calls, using data and sending SMS/MMS while overseas).

If you don’t have enough prepaid balance to cover a particular usage that isn’t included in your plan, then that usage won’t be available until you’ve topped up your prepaid balance.

You can check or top up your prepaid balance by logging into My Account. If you choose to top up your prepaid balance (minimum $10), the amount will be debited from your nominated bank account or credit card. If your service is cancelled any unused prepaid balance will not be refunded to you.

What happens if I use less than my included value?

Any unused data or calls will expire at the end of the month and won’t rollover into next month’s usage. You will pay the minimum monthly charge even if you use less than the advertised price of the plan.

What happens if I use more than my included value?

You will be charged for the calls, SMS or MMS made outside your included value based on the call rates advertised. These funds will be taken out of your prepaid balance.

If you use up your included data, we will automatically charge $10 to your prepaid balance and provide you with 2GB of data. If your prepaid balance is less than $10 you will not be able to use data until you top up your prepaid balance, or until the start of your next billing month when your included data resets.

Will you let me know if I have reached my included value?

Yes. We will send you a text if you reach 50% and 85% or if you use up your included data and/or international call minutes and SMS.

How can I keep track of my data and call usage?

You can monitor your actual usage by logging into My Account. The usage displayed will be delayed for some call types and data usage for up to 30 minutes. This could be longer for international roaming usage and for any third-party services ordered through your mobile service. You can turn off data, bar outbound calls of various types, restrict roaming and make use of other spend management tools at no charge all via My Account.

Can I change to a different TPG mobile plan?

TPG offers a no lock-in contract on all mobile plans, meaning you can change to a different plan if your needs change. To change your plan, login to My Account and select ‘Change Plan’. Then, follow the prompts. Any change of plan will come into effect from the start of your next billing period.

Service

Can I bring my own number?

Of course! Once you’ve chosen a TPG mobile plan, you’ll be asked to select between getting a new number or transferring your number to TPG from another provider.

Can I bring my own phone?

You’ll need to bring your own 4G (LTE 1800/850 MHz) or 5G compatible phone to use your TPG mobile plan. Your phone may require network unlocking if your phone hasn’t been used on the Vodafone network before.

What is 5G?

5G is the fifth generation of mobile technology that is capable of much faster speeds compared to 4G. You can access the 5G network if you have a 5G approved device and you’re in a 5G coverage area. If you don’t have 5G coverage, an eligible TPG mobile plan or 5G-enabled device, you’ll continue to automatically connect to the 4G network, where it’s available.

Can I use internet tethering with TPG mobile?

Yes, TPG supports tethering and will use the included data from your mobile plan.

Which countries can I send international SMS to?

For plans purchased after 2 August 2024, you can send standard SMS to 31 countries (100 SMS for Small Plan, and unlimited SMS for Medium Plan and Large Plan). If you use up your included SMS to the included 31 countries, or for standard SMS to other countries, check our call rates to see the list of countries included in your plan.

Are premium services available with my TPG mobile plan?

Premium services (including calls and SMS to 19 Numbers) are not available with a TPG mobile plan.

Bundling

What if I am an existing TPG customer?

Before choosing a new mobile plan, make sure you have selected ‘Existing Customers’ tab, and then log in to your TPG account using your username and password. After you checkout, your new mobile service will be automatically linked to your existing TPG account, and you’ll be able to login to My Account with the same username. Your payment details may also be combined.

If you accidentally signed up as a new customer and you want to link your new mobile service with your existing TPG account, please call us on 13 14 23 and we’ll be happy to help.

Can I get a discount when I bundle TPG mobile and internet?

If your current mobile plan is not eligible for a bundling discount, you can change to an eligible plan in My Account. Every time your invoice is calculated, we’ll check if you are eligible and give you the available discount for your eligible plan (as long as your TPG internet plan remains connected).

If your mobile and internet plans are not linked in My Account, please call customer support on 13 14 23 to link accounts. Bundling discount applies from the next invoice after your eligible plans have been linked.
