What you need for nbn®
- First time on nbn? If you have any medi-alert alarms, Back to Base alarms or EFTPOS terminals, contact your provider to make sure they’ll work on nbn.
TPG doesn’t offer Priority Assistance. - Switching your nbn to TPG? You’ll need the AVC ID number from your current nbn service. You’ll find this on a bill from your current nbn provider. Learn more about AVC IDs.

Important: Wait until your TPG nbn is connected before cancelling with your old provider. Same goes for any phone number you’re porting to TPG – don’t cancel it until after it’s working on TPG Voice. Your old provider may charge a cancellation fee, so check before you order.

How long it takes to get nbn® and what’s involved
nbn® connection
If nbn been connected at your address before, most connections can be done within 2 business days.
If you need to get nbn equipment installed at your place, we’ll book an appointment for an nbn® installer to visit. This type of connection can usually be done within 10 business days but may take longer, subject to installer availability. Learn what to expect during a technician visit.
If someone aged 18+ can’t be there for your appointment, you can reschedule to a later date online.
Hardware delivery
If you’re getting a TPG modem or nbn® equipment delivered, it will arrive in 2-5 business days.
We’ll send you an email/SMS with a setup guide when it’s time to plug in.
Additional time for ported phone numbers
If you’re porting your phone number to TPG Voice, it’ll take up to 5 business days before you can make and receive calls using your phone number. Learn more.

What is TPG Voice and how does it work?
TPG Voice service is a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) phone service that works using your nbn connection. You plug a VoIP-ready phone into your TPG modem to make and receive calls.
Important: Your TPG Voice service will not work during a power outage or nbn outage, including 000 emergency calls.

TPG defines a Local Call to be a call made to a number in the same Standard Zone Unit or an adjacent Standard Zone Unit.

TPG Voice Features
- Call Barring: Bar certain types of calls from being made.
- Number Display: Choose to hide or display your caller ID when making calls.
- Call Waiting: Put a call on hold to answer another incoming call.
- Call Forwarding: Divert incoming calls to another phone number. Standard call rates apply.
- Caller ID: See caller ID on incoming calls when using a compatible phone.
- Directory Listing: Change your TPG Voice phone number to “Listed” or “Silenced” in public directories such as the White Pages and Directory Assisted Services.
Porting your phone number to TPG Voice
We’ll check if it’s possible to port your phone number to TPG as part of your nbn order. You’ll need to give us your Account Number with your current phone provider – you can find this on your bill for the phone service.
We can usually port phone numbers from Telstra, Optus, AAPT, Primus and Powertel but there may be some exceptions depending on your service contract.
How number porting works
- Once your nbn is connected, your TPG Voice service will be set up with a temporary phone number that you can use to make calls.
- It’ll take another 1 to 5 business days to finish porting your phone number to TPG Voice. Incoming calls won’t work during this time.
- Once the port is done, you can make and receive calls using your phone number.
Important: Do not cancel your phone service with your old provider until your phone number is working with TPG Voice, or the port may fail.
Checking TPG Voice usage and managing your spend
You can check your call history for TPG Voice at any time in My Account.
It’s easy to manage your spend for TPG Voice because all Pay As You Go calls are charged from your Prepaid Balance (or prepayment). If you don’t have enough Prepaid Balance, the calls can’t be made. Learn more.
Reverse Charge Calls/Collect Calls can’t be received by a TPG Voice service.
You can also use Call Barring to prevent certain types of calls from being made.
Will my TPG Voice number be supplied to emergency services?
We’ll provide your TPG Voice phone number and address details to the Integrated Public Number Database (IPND) for the purpose of 000 emergency calls.

Prepaid Balance (or prepayment)
You can top up your Prepaid Balance to pay for usage that isn’t part of your nbn plan’s included value, such as Pay As You Go phone calls. You won’t be able to make any calls that aren’t part of your plan’s included value if you don’t have enough Prepaid Balance.
You can top up your Prepaid Balance as part of your nbn order, or at any time in My Account.
Any unused Prepaid Balance will be forfeited to us when you cancel the service.

Price Beat Guarantee Offer Terms
The TPG NBN Price Beat Guarantee Offer (‘Offer’) is available to new TPG consumer customers (‘Eligible Customers’) who sign up to any NBN plan excluding NBN wireless plans (‘Eligible Plans’) from 26/02/2025. Offer is available until withdrawn. Offer is available via sales call centre, online chat on TPG website or online claim form only.
Eligible Providers are Telstra, Optus, Aussie Broadband, Superloop, Belong Dodo, Exetel, Tangerine (‘Eligible Providers’ ). To redeem the Offer, the lower price must be (1) available to the general public; (2) offered on the same or an equivalent NBN plan as the TPG Eligible Plan chosen to price beat (‘Your Service’); (3) advertised on an Eligible Provider's publicly available website at the time of purchasing Your Service, or within 7 days of purchase if you submit the online claim form.
